Frequently Creative minds strike business ideas. The first step towards making the idea a reality is the creation of a Website. Before the Website is finalized and work is started , the owner likes to just have the squeeze page set up before the website is final. I will go about describing How To Create a Free Squeeze Page In WordPress but first we need to understand what exactly is a Squeeze Page ?

What is a Squeeze Page ?

Hold on folks, here comes the Web Development Mumbo Jumbo. When you talk to a Web design agency or a freelancer or a web design marketeer they throw phrases and words around that are difficult to comprehend for the common man. I categorize the term Squeeze Page as one of those terms. Wait, Was the Squeeze Page ever called a Landing Page ? I am pretty positive that these folks will have some differences to quickly point out. We will go over these later. If you google the definition of a Squeeze Page (Yes I did) you will find the following:

A squeeze page is a landing page designed to capture opt-in email addresses from potential subscribers. The goal of a squeeze page is to convince, cajole, or otherwise ”squeeze” a visitor into providing one of their most sought-after and coveted pieces of personal data: the email address.

I got this definition from WordPress Stream who you are likely to hit first if you are coming from Google ! Here is a link to the page

So basically its like a “One Page Website” and the page displays a picture, text or a video about what the website will be about and why should people leave their email address? The probability of the user leaving their contact information will depend upon the power of the message. May be if you offer to pay $30 anytime someone signs up you will see a lot of people opting-in but that is somewhat unlikely. You need to create a powerful message and something that benefits a potential user in someway. For example a free e-book, discount coupons e.t.c

First Thing someone does is to get their domain reserved and purchase hosting. If you are reading this article and yet to buy your domain and hosting consider my affiliate Get WordPress Hosting and Domain Names. You will not regret it. Not only you will get a great deal but also I will get credit for the sale. WIN – WIN !!

Once you have the hosting and domain and you know that you will select “WordPress” as the platform your website will be built upon, the next step is to set up and install the latest version of WordPress on your hosting account. Usually you will find plenty of documentation on this and one click installers by the hosting provider. If you have Host Gator hosting they provide a one click setup for WordPress and will happily answer any questions that you might have. The script is available from the cPanel.

How To Create a Free Squeeze Page In WordPress?

There are plenty of ways you can go about to create a squeeze page for your wordpress Website. There are free ones and then there are some paid ones. You can totally do this on your own. I will describe the easiest way in a step by step fashion which will suffice for most readers of this article:

Install a WordPress Plugin
Login to the backend of your website and install a free plugin. There are a number of plugins to choose from, my personal favorite is “Coming Soon Pro” which is a powerful Squeeze Page Plugin for WordPress.

Using the plugin is pretty simple. All you need to do is to provide a nice looking photo for the background. If you do not have a nice photo consider buying it from a stock photo website. They are cheap and give you peace of mind knowing that you will not receive a nastygram :)

You can provide HTML of text for the message area and your email address where the notification will be received once someone decides to opt in.
With HTML you can embed videos, audio, pictures or anything else you would like. The plugin also has integrated social media in case you have already set up your social media profiles.

You can also choose a different plugin or use your standard WordPress Theme to display a Cusotm Page.

This is not the only solution and you can select from a number of others as well however I found it the easiest and to be honest I wanted to base Squeeze Page a bit for not providing enough clarity with its name. I do not like Mumbo Jumbo ! Now you can sleep at night with peace of mind knowing How To Create a Free Squeeze Page In WordPress. Cheers and Good Luck. Here is how the end result will look like. I did one recently.
